Our clients requirement was to demolish the existing Public House and replace it with 3 new dwellings. Even though the site was located within a built up area, we were able to design three good size family homes. The design and architecture was driven by the constraints of Ashford Borough Council’s planning department. This decision was unfortunate, as we felt that the opportunity to design something new and of architectural merit was a missed opportunity.
However, our final design considered the architectural era. The materials and scale replaced that of the original public house without any impact on adjoining proprieties. The windows are modern version of traditional style and in keeping. Each house has 3 bedrooms and two off street parking spaces idea for family living.
